New boy in town

Well well, a cute little black kitten with blue eyes made it safely off of the street and into our home. He has definately made his way into our hearts. We didnt think we had room for another pet but this little guy has won us over. We are so glad he has a warm home- and a big brother MAC and big sis Bella to keep him company. We are calling him Franco.

Labor Day
It is hard to believe that the summer has finally come to an official ending. It is even harder to endure the chill in the air and the sun setting earlier each day (at least for me). Even thogh this summer season seemed to speed by, there are many memories that we created. One of my favorite moments of the end of the summer was watching my little boy -FINALLY- take steps of his own. Now, he is has not only taken steps but hasn't stopped since! Thanks to our friends who helped us close summer by joining us at our annual gathering. Here are some pics from "Beer Olympics VI"

Giorno dei Pomodori
Saturday my family gathered to jar the o so delicious tomatoes. what a task! First the tomatoes are inspected and cleaned. Next they are pureed using a special machine. Then Nina cooks them until they are perfect. Finally they are jarred with fresh basil and parsley. Now they are ready so we can use them all year! I had fun supervising.

We celebrated Mothers Day with an early morning rise and walk in Philadelphia where we joined thousands of others in a walk/run and dedication ceremony to honor and support breast cancer survivors, patients and breast cancer research. Friends and family retreated to 1 Scotch where we all enjoyed this special day to honor all mommies with great food and specialty drinks (Camp's fresh fruit daquiri blend- sure to become a tradition) !

ONE
Its hard to believe that one year ago on February 21st, our son Michael was born. In order to help us commemorate the first year of this awesome little guy, we invited family to our home to eat, drink and taost to MAC. Inspired by fondness for his panda bear friends, we decided to celebrate with chinese themed decoration. MAC donned his very own embriodered silk suit, from Chinatown. Guests enjoyed homemade chinese cuisine a variety of desserts. MAC dove into his very own cake after being awed by the "music" as the jolly crowd seranaded him with the happy birthday tune. Family was invited to share a fond memory or wish for MAC using Lai-see envelopes, a chinese tradtion, that will be shared with him for years to come.

Polenta
This past Sunday I went to my Aunt Anne and Uncle Bruno's house for a special meal. Nonina made her delicious polenta. I watched as she made this great dish- she had to stir it for a long time, its a lot of work. There was other wonderful food and dessert there as well. I enjoyed eating and spending time with my family.
